Email that you'll
want to read.
Vireo is a native macOS mail client designed to help even the most overwhelmed users make sense of their inbox. Search that finds anything instantly, screening that puts real people first, workflows that run your inbox on autopilot, and (deliberately optional) AI that never leaves your Mac — Apple Intelligence, or a model you run.

Re: studio lease — final numbers
Hi — great, those terms work for us just as long as my business also triples in the next 3 days.
I cannot sign this, but I also cannot move because I'm just too tired. 2026 has been like 3 years already, hasn't it?
At least this email looks beautiful in my new Vireo app!
— Linnea
It's an email client.
Designed by an obsessive adult person in an ADHD flow state, wrapped in an interface that feels like, at least... 2014?
Search that actually finds
A full-text index over every message — 50,000+ mails return instantly. Speak its language: from:*school.org, is:human, has:attachment — see, that really flows off the tongue! Save any search as a Nest and it lives in your sidebar like a cute little mailbox.
Mail from people, not machinery
Vireo screens every message — without cloud or remote servers — and separates mail a person wrote from newsletters, receipts, and notifications. It knows your correspondents, too, but not in a creepy way: is:human is:unread is the mail actually waiting on you, is:stranger is the cold outreach (or potential date!), is:automated is everything a robot sent.
A reader that tames ugly mail
Every message is re-typeset into clean, readable text — no blinding HTML and certainly no jarring fonts because licensing was very expensive. Remote images and trackers are blocked until you say so. Marketing mail finally reads beautifully, like an elegant letter you didn't ask for or want, and attachments drag straight out of a message, onto your Desktop to be forgotten forever.
Compose without the chaos
A calm, constrained editor in the spirit of Notion and Obsidian (please don't sue us, guys!) — bold, lists, quotes, code, links, markdown shortcuts, and per-account signatures.
Snooze it — it comes back
Snooze a conversation and it leaves your inbox — 30 minutes, an hour, this evening, tomorrow morning, any time you pick. It returns unread with a notification banner, even if Vireo isn’t running. Remind Me pings you at the right moment without moving a thing.
All your accounts, grouped
Bring every inbox together and organize them into groups that match your life — Personal, Work, Various Illegal Activities — each with its own icon and color! Support for Gmail, iCloud, and nerdy IMAP servers everywhere.
Pretty bird, pretty bird
We put cute logos and design elements throughout the app to set us apart from the mid-90s-IRC-inspired Thurderbird clients of yesteryear. We believe we are the first tech product ever to find the exact right amount of whimsy that makes you like us and only want to punch us a little bit.
Unsubscribe, even with PiHole
Trying to unsubscribe from that Local Singles in your Area newsletter while also running PiHole is annoying. It's a specific case, but one that this developer wanted to solve. Now, you can unsubscribe even with an ad blocker via dns-over-https or even by firing a webhook to unblock the domain temporarily. You'll be saying goodbye to those singles, though!
Instant, even at 50k messages
Before AI we used to pay attention to how the code was written. Even though Vireo was partially built with AI, human eyes still reviewed the code to make sure it was going to perform. And perform it does! Those 10,000 emails from your kid's Montessori school will be processed instantly.
Turn loose the robots if you wish!
Rules, models, and agents that work your inbox for you — all local, all auditable, and all off until you say so.
Workflows: mail that files itself
Tell Vireo “when mail matching this search arrives, do this” — move, archive, tag, flag, remind, notify, or ping a webhook (Slack, Home Assistant, ntfy…). Run one on a daily schedule, when you send, or on demand like a macro. A live preview shows exactly what a rule would do before it ever runs — and everything a workflow does rides the same rails as your own clicks: undoable, logged, one message at most once.
when from:*school.org has:attachment → move to School · notifyAn assistant that lives on your Mac
One-line summaries and spam judgment from Apple Intelligence — fully on-device, nothing to set up, works on a plane — or from any endpoint you run, like Ollama. Tune its voice with your own standing instructions, and audit every request in a call log that names the engine that answered. Until you pick one, it’s completely dormant: zero AI buttons, zero AI network calls.
A spam filter that takes correction
Every verdict you hand down becomes a visible rule in Settings — inspect it, undo it, and watch it teach the filter about that sender and their whole domain. Your corrections are permanent: Vireo never flips them back on its own. A bundled Bayesian filter does the classic work locally, and the assistant catches the phishing and scams it misses.
A door for your AI agents
An opt-in, localhost-only MCP server lets Claude — or any agent — search your mail in Vireo’s own syntax, read threads, triage, draft replies, even draft workflows. Enable the server and simply tell Claude to configure Vireo for you: "Hey Cluade, I want to see all receipts in one Nest. Create a Receipts Next, then use a model to see if it's a receipt and tag it."
